We only had to look as far as Buitengracht Street for the next person to pose our 11 questions to. This week’s questionnaire recipient is Chris (Jack) Howard of premium sneaker and apparel consignment space, Story. After spending years touring South Africa’s techno and house music circuits as a successful DJ and directing parties and activations for brands and events companies himself, Chris finally allowed his lifelong sneaker obsession to step into the limelight as his main profession with the opening of Story. Amid his corporate career, Chris started his passion project and love letter to the sneakerhead community, Sneaker Stories. Through Instagram Stories, YouTube vlogs and reviews, and livestreamed content all about his own collection, Chris quickly cultivated a following of fellow enthusiasts to share in-depth information and advice with about the sneakers he was talking about. Story, which gives a home to the community that Chris started with Sneaker Stories, opened in the same year and month as our store on Bree Street, and we shared our second anniversary celebration with a collaborative T-shirt release in December last year. Chris is especially notorious amongst our team for his extraordinarily unwavering love and dedication to our Navy Box Tee, of which he owns multiple and will probably keep buying them for as long as we make them.
Chris takes appreciation very seriously – the appreciation of sneakers, the sneakerhead community, the Navy Box Tee – so he’s a good person to turn to for recommendations. Let’s see what else he’s been appreciating lately.
